The IBDP or the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program is an extension of the IB board. It completely differs from the other boards such as ICSE and CBSE in terms of curriculum, study approach, and places more emphasis on analytical thinking abilities and critical thinking as well. they follow a holistic approach towards learning that develops students from a global perspective.
IBDP Curriculum and Structure:
Under the IBDP structure, students have to choose one subject each from the three groups, viz, Extended Essay, Creativity Activity and Service and the Theory of Knowledge. There are almost 6 subjects to choose from. This approach is totally different as compared to the other Indian boards which are known to be more content heavy and follow the exam patterns. Now the CAS group helps students to develop their creativity, indulge in physical activity, and even involve in community service.
And the 4000 words long Extended essay helps them improve their researrch and writing skills.
Here, the students get to focus more on global understanding of a particular subject, its impact, comprehensive understanding of all the concepts, holistic education, and most importantly, critical and analytical thinking.
The primary focus of IBDP is to inculcate inquiry-based and a holistic learning approach amongst students helping them explore topics and emphasize rather than simply mug up content that would help them learn the underlying principles in-depth.
